SHOW DESCRIPTION
Whoever said that diamonds were a girl’s best friend, had never met the Millennial woman because our best friend’s name is Wander Lusty. Millennials are trading in retail therapy for “travel therapy” and research suggests they may be on to something.
Many psychology professionals recommend travel as a form of therapy. Exploring new sights, smells, sounds, and conversations can stimulate your senses in a refreshing way and possibly even trigger your inner muse as well.
This week join Syd for S3 Ep4, as she sits down with the “Millennial’s Travel Agent,” Marissa Daniels, for an informative conversation on how to satisfy your wanderlust and travel in style on a budget. If travel is considered a form of therapy, then this week Marissa is our therapist.
Marissa Daniels is an experienced travel agent, avid traveler, and founder of Spread Your Wings Travel Agency. Marissa understands that traveling is a major part of daily living. From busy professionals to leisure travelers, she takes pride in taking the stress out of travel for her clients and helping them to create memories that will last a lifetime.

SHOW NOTES
Why do I need a travel agent?
You don’t need a travel agent just like you don’t need a beautician, but if you enjoy the convenience of having someone else do the heavy lifting for you when it comes to booking travel, then you should consider hiring a travel agent. Hiring a travel agent can also be useful if you’re new to international travel. A travel agent will be able to help you navigate securing visas, filling out paperwork and understanding required health/safety protocols for entering a new country. Travel agents also have access to special rates and discounts and can offer specialty touches to your trips for special occasions like birthdays, honeymoons and Bachelor/Bachelorette trips.
Can I afford to use a travel agent if I’m short on cash?
Yes, you can! Some travel agents’ fees can go as high as $250 to conduct a search for you. However, other agents, including myself charge much lower fees. In many cases my fee(s) may be as low as $30 to book a trip for you.
How can we save money on airfare?
- Travel on the weekdays (Mon-Thurs) instead of the weekend (Fri-Saturday). Ticket prices are generally lower during the week then they are on weekends.
- Use travel apps to aid you in your search. Two apps that I recommend are Sky Scanner and Hopper.
What aspects of the trip should we spend more on and where can we cut some corners?
I would not recommend cutting corner on your lodging and hotel accommodations. However, where you decide to cut corners is a personal choice. For example, if you’re not particular about airfare amenities, then you can fly Spirit or Frontier to save money. If you would rather arrive in style with a First Class Flight and/or limo service to and from the airport, then you might consider staying with friends or in a hostel to save money.
